Democracy Promotion
At national level, we will involve to support sustained support for the activities of the independent National Reconciliation Commission provided for in the Transitional Federal Charter.
- In the shorter term, assistance will focus on the organisation of an independently managed National Reconciliation Congress as the critical first step towards inclusive governance and the realisation of the core objectives of the transitional period (a new constitution adopted by referendum and democratically elected institutions).
- At community level, special attention will be paid to supporting and developing the role of traditional leadership in conflict resolution. The strategy will also strengthen the role of women and women’s groups in advocating peaceful resolution of conflicts at all political levels.
- Provide an enabling legal and regulatory framework; ) positive discrimination in favour of women and girls in order to overcome the current imbalance in services accessibility
